Choosing the Portuguese Rehabilitation Nursing Journal (PRNJ) guarantees you success in the national and international dissemination of your research, as it is indexed in several scientific bases. Therefore, we propose that you follow the instructions carefully to facilitate the analysis process and thus meet the established deadlines.

Instructions for authors are structured in two parts: editorial considerations and instructions for article submission.

Any situation not foreseen or contemplated in this regulation must be exposed to the Editor-in-Chief during the submission process by filling in the field “Comments to the Editor”.

1 – Editorial Considerations

1.1 - Description of Procedures

Submission, review and publication procedures are fully managed on the journal's online platform . Authors can follow the article evaluation phases on the online platform.

The stages of the process are:

- Submission / Pre-analysis

Each article submitted to the Journal is initially analyzed by a member of the Editorial Committee regarding compliance with the rules established in the Instructions to Authors, being returned for rectification, in case of non-compliance with the rules.

If approved at this stage, the article is forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief who designates the associate editor. This will start the evaluation of the content from a scientific point of view and the contribution to the development of Nursing science, by appointing two reviewers for the article from the body of national and international external reviewers .

- Peer review

The article is then forwarded to two external reviewers, who evaluate it based on the PRNJ analysis instrument. If there is disagreement in the opinions, the article is forwarded to the Editor. The reviewers' opinions are analyzed by the Editor who, if necessary, indicates the changes to be made and which should be re-submitted for evaluation. The review process is double blind and anonymity is guaranteed throughout the judging process.

- Publication

The works go on for publication only after the final approval of the Editor-in-Chief. In this phase, a final evaluation will be carried out regarding the text, layout and formatting. Scheduling and preparation of the article for publication and assignment of DOI.

1.2 - Copyright and Licensing

The entire content of the magazine is owned by APER, with copyright reserved for it.

Regarding use by third parties, PRNJ is governed by the terms of the Creative Commons license “Attribution – Non-Commercial Use – Prohibition of Derivative Works (cc-by-nc-nd)”. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed.pt

It is the author's responsibility to obtain permission to reproduce content from other publications.

All material that has been previously published and protected by copyright, namely illustrations, figures and tables, must be accompanied by written permission for reproduction from the copyright holders. Any conflicts related to copyright are the sole responsibility of the authors, and PRNJ is never responsible for judicial or extrajudicial indemnity proceedings arising from the failure of the authors to verify the legal framework.

Authors must ensure that the work is unpublished and is being sent exclusively to the Portuguese Rehabilitation Nursing Journal. The authors agree that, in case of acceptance of the article, the copyright referring to it will become the exclusive property of the Portuguese Rehabilitation Nursing Journal. This acceptance must be carried out when submitting the article.

Authors are authorized to make their articles available in repositories of their institutions of origin, as long as they always mention where they were published and in accordance with the Creative Commons license .

When submitting the article, the authors must send the duly completed Copyright form as an attachment.

1.3 - Associated fees

Submission and publication fees vary according to whether one of the authors is a member of APER:

- Member of APER (updated fees): Article submission: 50€; Article publication, after approval: 100€;

- Non-member of APER: Article submission: 50€; Article publication, after approval: €150.

The submission fee will only be issued after the submission has been validated and sent for review.

Decision-making on articles is not influenced by whether or not the authors are members of APER.

1.4 - Editorial Policies

PRNJ recommends reading the Editorial Policies that are published at https://rper.aper.pt/index.php/rper/politicaseditoriais

2 – Instructions for Article Submission

Submission of a paper includes assurance that the work described has not been previously published (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not being considered for publication in another journal, that the manuscript has been approved by all authors and, tacitly or explicitly, by the competent authorities where the work was carried out and that, if accepted for publication, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, including electronically.

PRNJ uses Crossref Similarity Check from Ithenticate to verify the originality of submitted articles. This check is based on comparing the text of the article with existing documents in the Crossref and Ithenticate databases .

Submissions that do not comply with these instructions may be returned for rewriting and resubmission.
